Located in Harris County, the city of Tomball, Texas is a small town with a wonderful personality. The community is united and there are lots of different activities to take part in. Even the Tomball real estate is more affordable than the real estate in some of the other larger cities nearby.
Tomball, Texas was named for Thomas Ball who helped significantly in the construction of the Port of Houston. The community was originally known as Peck, but it was changed to Tomball in 1907. Tomball, TX, is located about 30 miles from Houston and only 10 miles from The Woodlands. Other close by cities include Stagecoach, Pinehurst, Magnolia, Shenandoah, Oak Ridge North, Jersey Village, and Spring.
An interesting fact about Tomball is that not long after oil was discovered in the area, a contract was signed between Tomball and the Humble Oil and Refining Company. This contract, created in 1935, stated that free water and natural gas would be given to the residents of Tomball for 90 years in exchange for the rights to drill within the city limits. The Humble Oil and Refining Company is better known today as Exxon Company, USA.

The schools in Tomball are in the Tomball Independent School District. There is only one high school in Tomball and it is appropriately named Tomball High School. The North Harris Community College District provides community college education to locals and the Harris County Public Library also serves Tomball.
