With a land area of 1.5 square miles Waller, Texas is not exactly a large community. However, the population grew significantly throughout the ‘90s as more and more individuals realized what a great place it was to live. Waller, Texas History The Waller community is named after Edwin Waller. It was established in 1884 and within the first month of its existence there was a post office in operation. Not too much time passed and the first general store was opened. Then, in 1887 the first public school was established. Within eight years a bank and newspaper were created and by 1898 the South Texas Bible College was founded.
